The centre has served the local community for more than six decades. It has been the perfect venue for many large events and has hosted several band nights were bands such as The Who and Jerry and The Pacemakers have played. Connie Fisher, winner of BBC One's How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria, performed on the stage as a junior.
It currently hosts the local Operatic Society and has run events for the local Round Table and Inner Wheel plus many local charity organisations.
